You try to raise them right, and they still conquer and oppress you
Laini and I just got back from OMSI (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) and their current Robots (!! yay !!) exhibit. The title of this post is actually swiped from one of the many billboard ads all over Portland where they have pics of robots with catchy phrases like that. Another funny billboard said "Humans are funny ... we'll miss you when we take over the world." I love those (only because they can't come true...right?). We met Laini's mom and our niece Izzy and her friend Chiara for lunch and some robot goodness. There was a (possibly unintentionally) funny movie playing on a loop there about one of the first computers that could do a number of computations at once and how it was over 40 feet long and weighed 30 tons. I wonder how much our grandkids will laugh at us with our iPods and DVD players...
While we were there I made a friend:
... but then he got a little clingy and weird:
And for those of you who'd read my last post, check out what "mysteriously" showed up at our house last week ...
... hmm, I wonder how that happened? (heh heh :)

I really want to come to Portland...just to see if you´re real!
Hi, silly husband. I can't really trace exactly when this robot mania started to come over you -- but I do remember a conversation on a dog walk a few years ago about how the [then] upcoming vampire-werewolf movie Underworld could be improved by the addition of robots. Hm... So I guess that's the triumvirate? Vampires, werewolves and robots? But what about superheroes? Zombies?
Did I ever tell you that I use to be a robot? I still have the (now defunct) backpanel under my right armpit. (You guys can stil open it and crawl into it if you want to tonight when I come over. Its actually pretty roomy in there, about the size of the pilot's cabin in an airplane.) Most of the time I'm glad that I'm a humaneeenie now but sometimes, sometimes, I long for the old days.
I can't imagine how much they will laugh at us ... if they can laugh I mean. Every time I see someone with one of those blue teeth all I can think is: "I am Locutus of Borg ... "
heehee I know it's really Bluetooth
These guys here are the robots I hope for ... they look friendly and fun!
